The SALI Shield for Best overall project in 2017 as well as the Just Trees Trophy for Best Landscape Construction with Design by Others was awarded to Life Landscapes, a divison of Life Green Group (Pty) Ltd for the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital in Parktown, Johannesburg. What makes it so special is the fact that the landscape design of the hospital is firmly based on the concept and principles of therapeutic landscape design. The design of the gardens is world-class and Just Trees was fortunate to be a major tree supplier in this breathtaking project. The 1000L trees planted in the Arrival Court made this area feel like an established landscape soon after its completion. These trees soften the predominantly hard space and contribute significantly to the green quality and welcoming atmosphere of the Arrival Court. The 1000L trees planted in the Visitor Garden, Cafe Terrace and the Arrival Court, eliminated the need for shade canopies as they will provide adequate shade to the seating areas. We supplied 10 x Celtis africana 1000L, 20 x Combretum erythrophyllum 200L and 3 x Eureka lemon 40L for this project.
